The best gym wear under £20

Bestgymwearunder£20I spend a lot of time in gym and workout clothing, probably too much, although I do wear it when I’m working at home. Hello comfortable yoga pants! When you are working out a couple of times a week it’s easy to go through a lot of clothes (resulting in a lot of washing unfortunately!) plus things can get stinky pretty quick. In the past I’ve spent a fortune buying clothes for working out, and although they are great quality, I can’t afford to buy more luxury brands of fitness wear. I think part of my reason for going for more expensive brands was the lack of labels which personally I dislike. Not so long ago, I couldn’t seem to find much fashionable, bright and stylish gym wear at reasonable prices that didn’t make you look like a walking advert. Something has definitely shifted, as over the last few months, and in particular, weeks, I’ve noticed some fantastic stuff on the high street to choose from. Here are a few of my top picks:

Untitled 1

1. TK Maxx Grey Polo Neck Top £16.99 // 2. USA Pro Medium Bra Top Ladies £9.00 // 3. H&M Sports tights £14.99 // 4. H&M Grey Sports Bra £19.99 // 5. H&M Functional top £14.99 // 6. TK Maxx Nike Shorts £9.99 // 7. H&M Cropped yoga pants £12.99 // 8. H&M Vest top, £7.99 // 9. Lonsdale Kick Pants Ladies £9.99 // 10. F&F Trainers £8.00 // 11. USA Pro Tone Splash Ladies Trainers £18.00 // 12. USA Pro 2 Pack Ankle Socks Ladies £3.00

I’ve had to just link to the sports wear page for TK Maxx as there online collect changes so often. I have always loved TK Maxx for gym wear and have found some real gems in there. I’ve also seen a lot of great stuff in Primark, and from Tu at Sainsbury’s so check them out. I think it’s brilliant that you can get some decent stuff at more affordable prices.

Have you spotted any bargain gym wear recently? Wear do you usually buy your clothing for working out? How much do you usually spend?

  • Thank you, this post is great. I also love the H&M sports range. I have a few of their pieces and they are so comfortable. I had never thought to buy sports wear from tkmaxx but I will have to pop in and have a look now!

    • Laura

Definitely check out TK maxx they have some great stuff!

  • I do spend a fair bit on workout clothing or get it as presents for brithday/christmas, I spend a lot of time in it, so I think it’s worth investing in. I like Nike, Asics, Sweaty Betty, Gore Tex and Inov-8. They aren’t cheap but I actually don’t mind spending the money on something that’s good quality and lasts a long time.

I have to admit I like a bit of sweaty betty!

  • Thanks for this – I really need to invest in some proper sports trainers (I currently wear an old pair of Vans for dance, which probably isn’t the best of choices!) but am wary of buying cheap trainers in case they do more harm than good. In terms of the rest of my sportswear – invest in a good sports bra, and buy your sports trousers from Primark or H&M…!

Great approach, definitely with you on investing in a good sports bra!

  • I have quite a few tops from Primark that I use as workout tops for the gym. But for running it tends to be more ‘functional’ wicking style clothing because I can be out there for over an hour and you really need to be warm and comfortable. Going to check out TKMaxx online though…I rarely shop there!

I think running is where you need to invest, chaffing would be enough to put you off

I’ve got quite a few Under Armour things whilst in the US for soooooo cheap but I can’t get over how good some of the H&M stuff is and how reasonable the prices can be. I really have to restrain myself because they have really cute colours too and a few of their sports bras are awesome (and padded!) even for running.

    • Laura

Me too, the H&M stuff is just awesome!

  • Love these picks. I go for budget everytime with sportswear apart from my running trainers – I love H&M, Forever 21 and Sports Direct for bargains! x

Wish I could get to a Forever 21, need to get online!

  • I used to get more cheap and cheerful workout gear, but it never washed that well so now I buy what I think is better quality – Thoosa is my fave brand for tops ever- they are so flattering and comfy- I hate tight tops! I do tend to buy their stuff in the sales though!
