Live Simply Live Well: Bargains in July

This month I’ve been making more of an effort to stick to my budget and generally be a bit more thrifty!

I have not done as well as I’d hoped, tickets for a couple of gigs in the next few months, and er, a new iMac etc have broke the bank! However, the new focus I’ve had on seeking out bargains has made a difference. Where I would have usually hit the high street I’ve been shopping on eBay and looking in charity shops for hidden gems. Here’s what I found!

Oh my, this dress. It was love at first site! I bought this from a vintage shop in Newcastle for just £5. I wore it when I went to meet Gok and I got a lot of complements from followers on Instagram and here on the blog. The prize of bargain of the month has to go to it, love!

Next up, I was looking for some high waisted shorts after seeing a few styles I liked online. I had a look in one of my local charity shops and found these:

These were £3 each. I also bought another pair of looser fitting cotton shorts in that nude colour, which given the hot weather we’ve had, I’ve worn a lot! I also picked up these floaty wide leg pants for working from home days:

Just £2 for these, can’t go wrong!

I was also looking for some trousers with a high waist and came across these BNWT H&M ones on eBay:

They are in a lovely silky material and are great for wearing to the office. With postage and packaging these came in at under £7.

I was tempted by the high street on one occasion, and I can’t say that was a bad thing given that I spotted these shoes:

I gushed about these the weekend I bought them, I adore the emerald green colour and the simple fact that they fit my wide size 7/8 feet is enough! These were £14.50 in the sale, not as bargaintastic as some other things this month, but still pretty good considering how rare it is for me to find good foot ware.

Have you found any star bargains this month?

I’ve put together a two week quickstart guide to set you off on your journey, full of recipes, inspiration and advice. And it’s 100% FREE!

  • Those shoes are such a gorgeous colour- I love Accessorize for little bits like that-I think you can find some fab bargains if you look (my favourite winter scarf was from there for about £7 I think).
I got a nice top/dress thing from Tesco for £10 which I don’t think is too bad- it will get a lot of wear this summer I am sure!

Thanks Lily, I was so chuffed when I found it!

  • I keep trying to be better with money, but last month went out the window! Accidentally spent £110 on underwear, £50 on Regina Spektor tickets, and way more on food than I have done before! I’m hoping August is a more thrifty month…!

  • You’re a bargain queen!! I haven’t really bought myself any clothes for about a year and a half….well, except a couple of tops when I was pregnant…..I really need to pick up a couple of things that make me feel good but I’m never really in the mood for trying clothes on these days. I did get some new running shoes though….they were deffo not a bargain but I got them with my birthday money :-) What date is your birthday?
