Blogiversary and GIVEAWAY!

I can’t believe that one year ago today I started writing this blog. I honestly didn’t know if anyone would ever read it. I started things off with just a basic log of my eats and some outfit ideas. I’ve loved looking back at some of my old entries!

Me one year ago!

I can honestly say that blogging has really changed my life and given me an outlet for my passions in food, fitness, fashion and life in general. Being a part of the blogging community has given me so much inspiration, I can’t believe that a year ago I didn’t know what a green monster was, had ever had nut butter in my oats, tried sun warrior protein powder, ate kabocha squash or baked my own bread.

I feel like I’ve changed so much over the last year and I love that all of it has been documented through this blog. Its been a great journey:

That’s just the half of it! I feel happier and healthier than I ever thought possible.

  • Wow, you have gone on a journey this past year, you’ve achieved so much!
I can’t begin to say how inspired I have been from reading blogs, and agree that it can (as has) actually been life changing for me. Writing and reading blogs has is an amazing way to learn from other people and share interests, I couldn’t be without it now.
I have lots of Keeping Slim and Getting Stylish inspirations but the two that come to mind – I started making fudge balls/babies after seeing your cherry bakewell ones (they probably remain my favourite babies recipe actually!) and after hearing you mention protein powder I finally took the plunge and tried some because you seemed like a normal healthy girl and not a scary bodybuilder ;D

Love the giveaway, so nice of you to part with your Sanctuary goodies. I’ve tweeted it too!

  • Congratulations and Happy Blogiversary!
I read your blog every day and am inspired by your passion for food and your recipes – I’m currently working my way through your ‘baked’ and ‘main’ recipes. Your lentil and feta muffins are my lunch time staple at the moment!
Generally I find reading blogs written by real people motivates me to run, eat better food, pick up weights and be more positive. And of course the Uk ones are my favourites ;-) x

  • congratulations on a year of your great blog!
i always feel inspired to eat well and work out when I see how great other people are doing in their journeys, and blogs brought me green monster smoothies which I couldnt imagine life without now :)

  • Congratulations and thank you for the giveaway:)
I can honestly say your blog is one of my favourites! It really does inspire me to eat well, and try some of your recipes. I think the avocado cups are genius!

  • Happy Blogiversary :)

your blog has been amongst those that has inspired me to recently set up my own blog, something I’m still very nervous about but having a lot of fun with.

blogs in general have led me to green monsters, egg whites, protein powders and weight training.

they’ve led me to 9 bars, Nakd bars and Trek bars.7

they’ve given me new and lovely friends :)

  • I can’t believe it’s only a year that you’ve been blogging! You inspired me to try nori wraps, hmm they are SO delicious! And also to keep persevering with the gym. I don’t really read any other ‘health & fitness’ type blogs because some of them I just can’t relate to, but I really like yours because you’re so down to earth and always make me feel like anyone can get fit if they have enough willpower!

  • Happy Blogiversary! You’ve definitely had an amazing year :)

That’s such a generous giveaway, those prizes look so yummy. Enter me please – the thing that has inspired me most from blogs is to start making my own smoothies rather than buying overpriced shop ones. Your blog definitely inspires me as your recipes always sound so yummy! I don’t know how I ever lived with Green Monsters before as now I have them all the time!

  • I’m so pleased that it’s your blog birthday! I often read your posts first thing in the morning on the bus, getting ideas of what to eat for the day ahead :)
You have shown to me, and probably countless others that, healthy eating doesn’t have to be ‘boring’, it’s fresh, varied and soooo scrumptious! So thank you for blogging! xxxx

  • Happy Blog Birthday! I love reading blogs and have found they have really inspired me. I myself have come on a journey in the last year.

I am eating healthier, but also nicer foods! Who knew that eating healthy could be so yummy!

I have started running and weight training as a result of being inspired by blogs.

Long may this blog continue! xxx

  • Happy Blog Birthday!! :D

Healthy living blogs have inspired me in that I can eat healthy wholefoods, exercise and feel great about it without having the ED monster hanging over my head!

Seeing people such as yourself who’ve struggled through their weight and eating problems and come through the other end living a full and happy life while being slim and fit has made me want to have the same things.

So I come back to your blog every day as you’re an amazing example of that and give me the push everyday to make my life better. Plus you’re a North East girl like me!! ;)

Love your blog Laura, keep the amazing work going, you’re a TRUE inspiration.

  • Happy blogiversary! You’ve had a very eventful year.

The one thing I’ve really got out of blogging and reading other blogs is the amount of amazing ideas that people have, such as recipes. I can’t believe that this time last year I’d never made raw food treats and now I can’t imagine my life without them.

  • Happy bloggiversary! What a fab giveaway!

I’m always inspired by reading about people getting out there and doing some sort of workout. I love hearing about new fitness ideas and reading new healthy recipes or new ideas on how to healthify something. Keep up the great blog Laura I hope you’re still writing it another year on, I’ll still be reading :-)

  • Happy bloggiversary :)
    What an exciting giveaway too!
I love reading other blogs, especially for cooking tips and recipes (there are so many on your site that I have book marked to try!). Also, although I started my blog already running, other blogs inspired me to sign up for my first marathon :)
Plus I have “met” (in the virtual world) a load of supportive and fantastic people :) It just keeps on getting better

  • Wow, what a very generous giveaway! I bet you can’t believe it has been a whole year since you first started blogging, I bet the times has flown by!

I have learnt so much from blogs from recipes and fitness ideas through to body confidence and how not to worry about being new to exercise. It’s been great and I really enjoy reading blogs a lot.

  • Congrats and Happy 1st Anniversary, Laura! Hope you have many happy blogging years and decades to look forward to(keep up the excellent work:)

  • Happy First Blogging Birthday! I hope you have many more to come! I have been reading blogs for over three years now, and they have inspired me to experiment with foods that might be a bit different from the norm- hello green monsters! I am glad that I have finally taken the plunge in the past month in setting up my own blog-something thats been at the back of my mind for two years! It is giving me a purpose in a time of my life that is very uncertain, and I feel like I am now part of the blogging community, rather than a spectator! If I am still going in a years time, and am able to blog about my one year bloggeversity, I will consider myself very lucky! All the best to you!

  • i’ve been inspired by blogs to work out as a way of having fun/”me-time” rather than just burning calories–this is huge for me!

  • Happy Blogiversary!! :D

Amazing giveaway! Love the loot! Healthy living blogs, including yours, inspired me to totally turn my life around! Now I even have my OWN blog! And I also have lovely blends like you now! :)

  • Happy Blogiversary! Gosh it’s only been a year?! You seem so knowledgeable and have a huge fan base already!
I’m so excited about this giveaway! Everything looks great!!
I can honestly say that at the moment, your blog is the most inspiring one that I read. I read your blog everyday and I love it because you create gorgeous recipes with foods that I love to eat and with foods that I know I can get my hands on because you’re in the UK and thanks to you I tried protein powders because I was terrified of trying them before! I was inspired by your protein cake recipe and I went for it and tried it and that’s all thanks to you!
Blogging in general has changed my entire life. I was in the depths of an ED and didn’t enjoy food in the slightest but slowly, by reading people’s passion in their blogs about healthy living, I saw the light and I wanted to be happy and to be able to exercise and have a good life like them. I can’t ever be grateful enough for what the community has done for me because if I had carried on..I would have died. I’ve tried some amazing foods and I have learnt that my favourite food of all time is kabocha squash! My parents are also eternally grateful for the blogs out their because they have their daughter back…

  • I think the real element to the healthy blogasphere that inspires me…is the consistency. Watching people day-in-a-day-out week by week make healthy choices. Choosing to workout, eat health/ fresh/ organic/ nutritious/ etc foods, working on their self-image, their confidence, sharing their tips and handy hits. The consistency of putting what they are doing out there to show everyone that you can fit health in to your life and even better it can be something that you will enjoy an treasure! It is very inspiring and I read a ton of blogs to help me be consistent including this one :)

  • Congratulations on your first blog birthday, that’s such an amazing achievement! I really admire your blog because it’s full of lovely photos and great food/recipe ideas. I’ve been inspired by so many things from your blog, from your workout routines to your tasty eats, it’s hard to pick just one thing!

I guess the one thing I have noticed is that my approach to what healthy food is has totally changed since I started reading healthy living blogs, like yours. I’ve discovered that eating healthy does NOT equals eating salad! I have your recipe page bookmarked and am slowly working my way though your delicious recipes :) I totally admire how creative you are in the kitchen and some of your recipes are now staples in my own meal plans (hello egg white and spelt wraps!)

I honestly think of you as someone who has achieved a realistic healthy balance in life, something I really aspire to, so thank you for posting each day and continuing to share your journey in blog-land :)

  • Ruthie

Happy Blogiversary. I cannot believe it has only been a year. I started reading about 5 months ago & assumed it had been going much longer. I have found blogs inspire me to experiment more in the kitchen, cooking healthy and delicious food. I was inspired when I found your blog specifically as after many American blogs it is refreshing to read about another women in the UK striving for a healthy lifestyle.

  • Amazing giveaway!!! I have been inspired by so many blogs including yours. The biggest lesson I have learned is that food is not the enemy. It can be both super delicious and healthy.

I have also tweeted about your giveaway too! :)

  • Debs

Happy Blogiversary! You have come a long way since your first entry, keep it up! I love reading your blog and read it each time you update. I think that the health blogging world is just amazing; it has shown me what healthy eating is and how to balance it between everyday life. Love it!

I really admire how you home make so many of your food as well! As soon as I move out of my hall of residence and have a bigger kitchen and more utensils, I will definitely be diving straight into more of your recipes! Also, I’ve GOT to get myself a blender/food processor ;) Great giveaway! Everything there is really, really lovely! Your lucky reader will really be one lucky person! xoxox

  • Congrats! Your blog is number one on my list, it’s so great. You inspired me to add a juicer to my christmas list, i now juice every morning and my skin is loving it, such a fantastic healthy start to the day. Also I made your quinoa, almond and cherry muffins for brunch on christmas day for my family. keep writing, its brilliant! emily xxx

  • What an exciting giveaway! What I’ve gained reading blogs are tons of new ideas, recipes, and food items I wouldn’t try otherwise. It’s been great stepping out of my comfort zone.

  • I am already a follower ;)

  • And I just tweeted!

P.S. I forgot to mention in my original post, your blog has made me create a list of food to get when I finally make the trip over the the UK!

  • What a lovely haul of goodies – some of them are my favourites too!!

Congrats on a year of blogging. I must say that your blog is definitely one of my favourites (I am a Facebook fan!)and your attitude and positivity and enthusiasm are so infectious!

I think the most inspiring thing I get from your blog is a reminder that maintenance – which I’ve been doing for five years this year! – is a bit like weeding a garden, you need to do it often so that the weeds (unhealthy habits) don’t take over again! I get so many ideas and sometimes just a plain kick up the butt from reading what you’ve been up to! Thank you :) xx

  • Happy Blogiversary!

I think what inspires me from your blog is all the delicious recipes you try. Your not afraid to mix & match the products and it always gives an amazing result ;)
Also, your journey to the GNR is an inspiration. Going from no running to achieve this is fantastic. Well done again on it!

  • You are a generous lady! Blogs inspire me constantly, but from reading yours since I got home on Friday (and meeting you) I’ve been inspired to finally get a fitness routine going!

  • Ash

Congratulations!! I stumbled across your blog whilst looking for the Maxitone website, then went into a link onto JAG’s blog until I eventually found you! This was about 7months ago. I am now 2 stone lighter and go to gym at least twice a week. Without your inspiration I would not have discovered green monsters, pumpkin cake, grape nuts, veggie/seed patties, nakd bars and my favourite of all, yo yos!!! Thank you so much, I love reading your blog everyday and spent a few hours catching up recently when I came back from a weeks skiing and we did not have internet access. Keep up the good work!!!

  • As I’ve said before, your determination and sense of perspective, balance and fun really inspires me and shows me that I can have the lifestyle I want too! I’m not always on track, but what I love about the Healthy Living community is that it never judges, and is always ready with news ideas when I get back on it!

    Much love xxx

  • shan

I’ve just found your blog and added a subscription through Google. The great thing about blogs such as yours is finding so much inspiration for living in a healthy way, knowing what other people do, finding recipes, new snack ideas, etc. Sometimes you feel like you’re struggling with something alone, so it’s good to see that other people are in the same boat or have made it through…

  • Roz

Ahh Laura this blog is so inspiring! It makes me get off my butt and go for a run, and keeps me going when I can’t be bothered to cook anything healthy – keep up t’good work :) xx

  • So glad you started blogging. The biggest thing that motivates me about your blog is your consistency and perseverance with both excellent eating and exercise. And also your lovely clothes!

  • Happy First Birthday!
I read a lot of blogs (too many, really need to trim it down!) and since starting I have changed the way I cook.
Blogs have inspired me to try new things and I am eating foods I never would have bought before the blog world.
It’s great getting a peak into someone’s day and getting new ideas for food.
Keep up the food posts and here’s to the next year of great blogging!

  • Wow, you look incredible!

I only found your blog a few days ago. I’ve been an on and off gym goer for a few years ago but I’ve never really taken it, or my health seriously. I got diagnosed with IBS before xmas and I was so tired of feeling bloated and crappy all the time. Finding your blog has not given me a lot of inspiration in experimenting with good healthy food but but your enthusiasm seems be quite infectious too and I look forward to your updates as well as wading my way through the past entries. I’m getting married next year and all I want to be is healthy and happy.

    Keep up the good work!

  • Happy Blogiversary! I’ve only recently stumbled across your blog but I’m already hooked. Your blog has given me so much inspiration with healthy food ideas and recipes. My latest obsession is your Cherry Bakewell Babies, I made them a few days ago and again today, they’re the perfect guiltless treat! Thanks so much for the recipe!
